Bag, Duffle, 1st Lt. Charles Schoew, B-24 Pilot, 512th BS, 376th BG, 15th Air Force, USAAF, ETO
Nice genuine WWII US Army Duffle Bag. Featuring a shoulder strap, this green canvas bag was larger and sturdier than the Barrack Bag and could be secured with a padlock. Manufactured by Tweedies and dated 1944. Very good overall condition, complete with shoulder strap. Name Schoew, C.R.W. and officer's ASN O-824914 have been handwritten on it.
Charles Richard Wilson Schoew was born on January 9, 1922 in Huntington, West Virginia and joined the US Army Air Forces on February 1st, 1943 (ASN 13071446). He was awarded his pilot's wings and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on March 1st, 1944, went on to serve as a B-24 Liberator pilot with the 512th Bomb. Squadron, 376th Bomb. Group, 15th Air Force and flew 48 combat missions over Europe. A recipient of the Distinghuised Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, he was discharged on October 1st, 1945 as a 1st Lieutenant and passed away on February 13, 2010.
