Cover, Protective, Individual, US Army, 1944

Genuine WWII US Army anti-vesicant cover in clear and dark green plastic. Once unfolded, this individual protective cover was intended for covering the GI with his weapon and equipment. It was also convenient as an overhead cover in a foxhole, or to line its bottom; this item was also used as a shroud in temporary cemeteries. On D-Day, every GI carried two of these with his gas mask.

Dated 5 December 1944. Mint, unopened condition.
