€145.00

Rare genuine WWII Japanese Imon-bukuro bag, also known as 'comfort bag'.

This type of item was designed for providing the Nipponese warrior with various treats and accessories intended for maintaining his morale and improving his living conditions -- toiletries, candles, incenses, goodies and other amulets. Generally sent by their families or some patriotic organizations, these comfort bags were much appreciated by convalescent troops.

Made in white rayon, the present bag is adorned with printed motifs, including an Imperial Japanese Navy flag and a national flag. The recipient's name and address have been written on the left side, in the emplacements provided for that purpose: Hanjuro Aikawa, based in Tokyo.

Quite good, used condition.

Dimensions: 8.3in x 13in.
