Helmet, M1, liner Seaman Paper Co., 5th Inf. Div., ID Lt. Binebrink
Genuine WWII US M1 helmet, fixed bales, manufactured by McCord, shell number 717B, original 2nd pattern canvas straps with steel buckles; complete with its liner, OD canvas straps and leather sweatband, unpainted A washers, manufactured by Seaman Paper Co.
A 2nd Lt. rank insignia has been welded on the front and the 5th ID red diamond was painted around it; both insignias have been painted on the liner. A name tag can be seen in the shell: Thomas W. Binebrink. Thomas William Binebrink, Sr. was born on November 22, 1922 in Ridgely, Maryland. He joined the Army on February 2, 1943 at Baltimore and subsequently fought in Europe. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He passed away on June 25, 2013 in Ellicot City and rests in Hillsboro, Maryland.
