Superbe genuine WWII US type A-8 summer flying helmet manufactured in khaki gabardine. It still has its readable label in size Medium. Delivered with complete receiver R-14 with PL-54 plug.
Standardized on 12 October 1933 initially for the USAAF this helmet with leather chin cup was also used by paratroops not only during training but also in combat zone. Seen on period photos worn during every campaigns: Sicily, Italy, Normandy, Holland... (see D-Day Publishing books : Carentan page 80-81, Sainte-Mere-Eglise page 117, Bridges Are Ours'page 900)...
