Pouch, Pioniersturmgepäck, Wehrmacht

Scarce genuine WWII German pioneer pouch, Feldgrau canvas. Specially designed for combat engineers, the Pioniersturmgepäck was introduced in March 1941; it was basically made up of a main backpack and two large side pouches attached to the belt. The whole set would allow a single Pionier to carry various explosive charges and grenades as well as his gas mask.

This is the right-side pouch; the small compartments were intended for rifle clips. This pouch is in used condition yet retains all its original straps.
