Very scarce genuine WWII German medal, SS-Dienstauszeichnung, blackened brass.
Created in January 1938, the SS Long Service Award was given in three grades: 4th Class (four years of dedicated service to the SS-Verfügungstruppen, SS-Totenkopfverbänden or SS-Junnkerschulen), 3rd Class (eight years), 2nd Class (twelve years) and 1st Class (twenty-five years).
The present medal corresponds to the 4th Class, bearing the phrase Für treue Dienste in der SS and number 4 on the reverse. Complete with original ribbon; in excellent overall condition.
