Genuine WWII US Army Air Force, Type B-1 flying cap. This cap is standardised in April 1939. Made of khaki cotton.

With label dated 1942 in size 7 1/4.

The name of A. L. Jekot is written under the visor, identified the cap to Lieutenant Aurelian Lucien Jekot, asn O-740440, pilot of a P-38 lighhtning with the 37th Fighting Squadron, 14th Fighting Group, 15th Army Air Force. The plane was shot down on July 19, 1944, Jekot had been wounded and became a POW (Prisoner of War) held at Stalag Luft 1 at Barth.
