€375.00

Superb genuine WWII US 'yard-long' photograph of the Medical Detachment, 326th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Division, taken in July 1942 at Camp Claibore, Louisiana. The regiment became the 326th Glider Infantry Regiment when the division was redesignated 82nd Airborne Division the following month.

Officers, NCOs and other ranks in the picture are all identified. Captain Wolcott L. Etienne, who was Regimental Surgeon at the time, was later promoted to Division Surgeon and wounded in action in Normandy on June 6, 1944.

The present original print belonged to Private Alfred W. Veil (2nd row, 3rd from right), who mailed it to his father from Camp Claiborne; it comes in its original cardboard tube, which retains the envelope in which it was sent at the time -- stamp, names and addresses are still clearly legible.

Dimensions: 8in x 27.5in.
