Jacket, Ike, Pfc. Robert Jacobs, 8th Infantry Division
Superb genuine WWII US Army regulation Enlisted Men's jacket. Chosen by General Eisenhower in April 1944, this type of jacket soon became popular as the 'Ike Jacket'. The present one retains all its original insignia: 8th Infantry Division shoulder patch, Private First Class stripes, Overseas Service Bars and 'Ruptured Duck'. Label still present, dated December 16, 1944, size 36R. Laundry number J-1576 and name Jacobs have been handwritten inside, indicating that the present jacket belonged to Robert G. Jacobs, ASN 39461576.
Robert Gene Jacobs was born on December 14, 1923 in Uniontown, Washington State and joined the US Army in February 1943. He was discharged in November 1945 and passed away on August 26, 1991.
