Grenade, Hand, Ceramic, White, Type 4, Japanese

Genuine WWII Japanese ceramic hand grenade, Type 4. Due to a general shortage of metals, these ceramic grenades were produced in 1944-1945 as weapons of 'last resort'. Widely issued to Japanese troops during the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

The body of this grenade is empty and harmless.

Two Type 4 grenades. The one on the left doesn’t have the rubber cover on.
