Genuine WWII French insignia of the 153e Régiment d'Infanterie de Forteresse.

The unit is known for its actions during the Battles of Verdun (1916) and Le Chemin des Dames (1917).

In May 1940, the regiment was deployed at Fort Simserhof in the Moselle department, before surrendering in June 1940 in the Vosges department.
