Helmet, Mk II, Royal Navy, 1941

Magnificent and scarce genuine WWII British Mk II helmet, complete with original liner and chinstrap. Shell is hallmarked AMC (Austin Motor Company, one of the rarest manufacturers) and dated 1941. Liner is hallmarked W. Ltd (J. Compton, Sons & Webb, Ltd) and dated 1941; size 7.

The shell paint features a very nice patina. Four signalling flags have been carefully painted on the front, indicating that the present helmet saw service in the Royal Navy. Various transcriptions of this code are possible, depending on the real colors used and whether you consider the Royal Navy Handbook of Signalling or the International Code of Signals as the reference book -- JABW or 5YWQ are two possibilities among others.

All original components of this Brodie helmet, including those of the liner, are perfectly homogeneous. An uncommon artifact, in great overall condition.
