Carrier, Canvas, Gas Mask, M1A1, Airborne, MTO, Southern France

Genuine WWII US M1 bag for training M1A1 gas mask. Complete with strap and cord.

Due to a shortage of Service gas masks, the Training mask was issued for operations in North Africa, Italy and Southern France (First Airborne Task Force), especially to airborne units as it was lighter and less bulky. Introduced in 1940, the production of the M1A1 gas mask ceased in 1942. The M1 bag was slung over the shoulder, and held close to the body by a length of string.

Delivered with a civilian gas mask -- only to fill the canvas bag.
