Very nice and scarce genuine WWI US Army grouping, which belonged to Lieutenant Edwin Cornick, a medical officer in the 27 Infantry Division, made up of an M1910 summer cotton tunic, an M1917 helmet and an M1917 gas mask in its original bag.

In excellent overall condition, the four-pocket, light khaki jacket (small size) retains all its original insignia -- US and Medical Corps collar badges, bullion 2nd Lieutenant rank insignia on shoulder tabs, 27th Infantry Division shoulder sleeve insignia and two war service chevrons on the left sleeve (12 months). All buttons and hooks still present. The label sewn in the left breast pocket features the following information: London Tailor Shop, John Wanamaker, Philadelphia -- some handwritten mention indicates that this uniform was tailored by a person named Louis on June 24, 1918 for Lieutenant Edwin Cornick. A ribbon has been pinned on this pocket, bearing the following words: Welcome Home 27th. Division U.S.A.

In used condition, the helmet retains its leather chinstrap and liner; the emblem of the 27th Infantry Division has been painted on the front of the shell, which is hallmarked HS 43.

Complete with tube and filter cartridge, the gas mask is quite fragile. The carrying bag, at the back of which the 27th Infantry Division has been painted as well, retains its strap, though partially damaged; various annotations, hardly legible, can still be seen on the bag.

A great homogeneous set.
