Genuine WWII US Army M-1936 light khaki field bag, used for carrying personal belongings. Manufactured by Bearse Mfg. Co. and dated 1942.
Very good overall condition. The following markings have been stenciled on the flap: Lt. Robert E. Span O-444827 AD-161-E.
Robert Edward Span was born on April 19, 1920 in Homestead, Pennsylvania. After completing his four-year Reserve Officer Training Course, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Signal Corps (ASN O-444827). Deployed from July 9, 1942 to January 23, 1944, and again from June 7, 1944 to February 28, 1945, he was discharged on November 21 of that year. Deceased on February 20, 2001.
