Smock, Drab, Windproof, British, 1942

Extremely scarce genuine WWII British Windproof Drab Smock, intended for being worn along with matching trousers (not included here) over the uniform. It seems that this type of suit was initially designed for 'special forces', such as commandos and SAS units, and saw service in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, amongst other places.

A white version, identical in shape yet made of thicker cotton cloth, was issued to the Commonwealth forces fighting in the ETO during the winter 1944-1945 -- as a matter of fact, some US troops also wore it in the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge.

In good, worn condition, the present smock retains all its original buttons; the hood drawstring is missing. The label is hardly legible but mentions Smock, Drab and Size 3 can be seen when looking carefully. Letter O inked above the War Department stamp indicates that this smock was produced in 1942.

Don't miss the opportunity!
