Genuine WWII British officer collar insignia, East Riding of Yorkshire Yeomanry.
Its 1st Regiment took part in the fighting in France in 1940 as a cavalry unit within the British Expeditionary Force.
In 1942, it was assigned to the 27th Armoured Brigade, 79th Armoured Division, equipped with the famous Sherman Duplex Drive tanks.
On 6 June 1944, its tanks set off across the English Channel with the aim of landing on Sword Beach and supporting the troops of the 9th Infantry Brigade of the 3rd British Infantry Division. The regiment later took part in the fighting to liberate the Netherlands.
