Book, Defending Normandy, German Chain of Command, Infantry Divisions on the Cotentin

Defending Normandy Vol.1A: German Chain of Command, LXXXIV. A.K. & Infantry Divisions on the Cotentin By analysing German records, accounts, and Allied intelligence, Niels Henkemans reconstructs the battle through the eyes of the units involved. The first in a multi-volume series, Defending Normandy Vol.1A looks at the role of the LXXXIV. A.K. in the evolution of the defence of Normandy, starting in 1941. It also examines infantry divisions in general and two in particular during the fighting in the summer of 1944. By focusing on formations, the series provides a deeper insight into the fighting than can be achieved by a traditional campaign approach. Vol.1B will continue with four more divisions. Defending Normandy offers the reader unprecedented detail on the formations discussed. Every unit’s organisation, equipment, pre-invasion history, and tactical role on the Cotentin are scrutinised. Dozens of maps, photographs, and graphics accompany this unique unit-based exploration of the Cotentin campaign. Crash à Bayeux - La dernière mission du Sergeant Ferguson (French Version)

Crash à Bayeux - La dernière mission du Sergeant Ferguson (French Version)

Book,  Crash à Bayeux - La dernière mission du Sergeant Ferguson , François Oxéant, OREP, 2024, 112 pages. French version. This is the true story of Sergeant William Kennedy Ferguson , a young Royal Canadian Air Force pilot whose Spitfire was shot down by Flak on January 15, 1943 near Bayeux, Normandy, France. Ferguson was killed and buried in the cemetery of a nearby village, Saint-Martin-des-Entrées. To show their solidarity with the cause for which he had died, hundreds of French citizens attended the funeral. The German military authorities took this as a provocation and confiscated the ID of all those present, leading to an unprecedented wave of arrests; members of the French Resistance were subsequently sent to concentration camps, where some of them died of starvation. This meticulous investigation depicts the life of this Canadian pilot in detail, until his very last sortie over German-occupied France, as well as the tragic consequences of his death for the local population.  Initially published by Comever-De Rameau in 2014, the present revised edition features some never-before-seen wartime photographs. https://www.facebook.com/crashinbayeux
