Sleeve, Gas Detector, JL&S 1942

Rare and nice genuine WWII British sleeve gas detector, issued to airborne troops and first-wave units of the amphibious landings on D-Day.

This brown paper armband was impregnated with a chemical reagent intended for alerting its wearer in the case of a gas attack otherwise undetectable. This type was massively used by the US Army.

The present detector, manufactured in November 1942, is in quite good, worn condition.
