Genuine WWII US Eleventh Army Corps (XI Corps) shoulder patch. After spending some time in New Guinea, XI Corps participated in the liberation of the Philippines and subsequently transferred to Japan for occupation duties in 1945.
This is the early version of the patch, which was replaced by a new one in September 1942.
