Nice and rare genuine WWII USAAF sterling silver chain bracelet, adorned with glider pilot's wings (miniature type). Name F.J. FitzSimons has been engraved on the obverse, while the reverse bears ASN 14059642 and date 43-9 . Good, worn condition. The clasp seems to be jammed. Francis Joseph FitzSimons, Jr. was born on August 28, 1920 in Covington, Louisiana and joined the US Army Air Corps on July 10, 1941. He went on to train as a glider pilot and deployed to Europe in 1944. Great genuine WWII US Army silver alloy Glider Badge, hallmarked Sterling . Intended for being worn on the dress uniform or jump jacket. The original pin is in working order. Based on the Parachutist's Badge design, these 'Wings', which were authorized on June 2, 1944, were to be awarded to GIs upon completion of glider unit training course -- or following their participation in at least one combat mission. Complete and in very good overall condition.
