Original letter and envelope sent to Private Raymond G. Geddes, Jr. , 501st PIR by his mother when Ray was stationed at Camp Toccoa, Georgia. Postmarked on March 18, 1943. Machete, British-Made, with Canvas Scabbard, ATLAS 1943, Laundry Number
Interesting genuine WWII British-made machete, 18.1-inch blade. Manufactured in Sheffield, England. Comes in its original US OD 7 canvas scabbard, produced by Atlas in 1943, on which laundry number P6519 has been stenciled. Quite good overall condition.

Genuine WWII USAAF folding machete, intended for being issued in emergency kits B-2 and B-4. Blade length: 11in. This type was introduced in 1942 in order to supersede the Model 18 Collins machete, which was considered too bulky. Manufactured by Camillus . Good overall condition.

Machete, M-1942, COLLINS & CO., Legitimus, 1942, with Leather Scabbard, ALCO 42, Modified, Named, Normandy
Genuine WWII US M1942 machete, 18-inch blade. Manufactured by Collins & Co. and dated 1942; black bakelite grips. Comes in some leather scabbard, manufactured by Alpco in 1942 and initially designed for the 22-inch machete -- the tip has been shortened and name Pavey was carved on the front. Homogeneous set in quite good, used condition, found in Normandy.

Machete, M-1942, Taped, with Canvas Scabbard, Sgt. Earl Burgess
Interesting genuine WWII US M1942 machete, 17.9-inch blade. Production markings are illegible due to oxidation; the grip has been covered with friction tape to improve handling properties. Comes in its original OD 7 canvas scabbard, dated 1944 and on the reverse of which ASN 31303957 and initials E.J.B. have been written. Earl John Burgess was born on January 21, 1918 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and joined the US Army on March 13, 1943. Mask, Face, Launcher, Rocket (Bazooka), 1944
Genuine WWII US rocket launcher face mask, clear lenses, dated 1944. These were designed to protect the face when firing the rocket launcher. Marking US 1944 is inked on the inside of the leather frame. Manufactured by American Optical Co. Worn condition and still in its original kraft. Broken eyelenses in bad condition.

Genuine WWII US Army face mask featuring acetate lenses, intended for protecting rocket launcher crews when firing their weapon. Manufactured by American Optical Co. in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Stock No. 74-M-126. Marking U.S. 1944 has been inked on the inner surface of the leather frame, on the right-hand side. Mint, unissued condition; cmes in its original cardboard box.

Pack Carrier, M-1928, with Meat Can Pouch, OD 7, 1944
Rare genuine WWII US Army OD 7 canvas set for M1928 haversack, made up of a pack carrier manufactured by Central Slipper and a meat can pouch manufactured by Cooney Sail Co. Mfrs . Homogeneous set, in excellent overall condition, dated 1944.

Pack, Jungle, M-1943, Camouflage, CARTER BROS., INC. 1943
Genuine WWII US Army M1943 Jungle Pack, of the camouflage cloth type. Intended for troops deployed in tropical theaters of operations, the Jungle Pack was first tested in Panama prior to being issued to various units in the Pacific in 1943-1944. Two versions were produced -- camouflage fabric, and OD 7 fabric. Manufactured by Carter Bros., Inc. and dated 1943. Complete and in good overall condition; Talon zipper and snap hooks are in working order.

Nice genuine WWII US Army and Marine Corps M1943 Jungle Pack, green version. Intended for troops deployed in tropical theaters of operations, the Jungle Pack was first tested in Panama prior to being issued to various units in the Pacific in 1943 and 1944. Two versions were produced -- camouflaged fabric and OD 7 fabric. The present early-production pack was manufactured by Goodcraft in 1942; retains all original straps; zipper is in working order. Very good overall condition.

Packboard, 2nd Pattern, 1944, with Pack, Canvas, Medical, US Army
Rare genuine WWII US Army set, comprising a packboard of the second pattern, and a nice OD 7 canvas medical pack intended for carrying first-aid supplies and other medical devices. Manufactured by Artek-Pascoe, Inc. and dated January 4, 1944, the packboard is made in shaped plywood and fitted with a wide canvas panel attached on both sides; introduced in 1943, this version was a simpler alternative to the earlier Yukon packboard. The pack, which could weight up to 40 pounds when loaded, was used as a possible substitute for the medical chests at forward aid stations; thanks to its various straps, it could be attached to both the early or late versions of the above-mentioned packboard, and saw extensive use in the medical detachments of infantry regiments and other special units, such as the First Special Service Force. An amazing set, in very good overall condition.
