Scarce genuine WWII baseball catcher's chest protector, manufactured by Rawlings for the US Army Special Services. Created on July 22, 1940 by the War Department, the Special Services were the entertainment branch of the Armed Forces. Quite good, used condition. Complete with full strap assembly -- pin buckle and snap hook are in working order.

Width of each cube: 1.2in. Manufactured by The Embossing Company in Albany, New York. The present set is complete, homogeneous and in very good overall condition; comes in its original cardboard box (damaged and fragile).

Nice genuine WWII 78 rpm USO phonographic record. The United Service of Organization had kiosks in some locations that allowed soldiers to record voice messages onto records that could then be sent home to their family or their sweetheart. The United Service Organizations was founded in 1941 by Mary Ingraham in response to a request from President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide morale and recreation services to U.S. uniformed military personnel. They were brought together under one umbrella to support U.S. troops. Roosevelt said he wanted "these private organizations to handle the on-leave recreation of the men in the armed forces." According to historian Emily Yellin, "The government was to build the buildings and the USO was to raise private funds to carry out its main mission: boosting the morale of the military."

Nice genuine WWII discs records from the USO. On these discs sent with the help of the National Catholic Community Services , a soldier, Pvt Walter Kanarkiewicz from 174th Field Artillery Battalion, recorded a message for his mother. Created in 1941 by the request of President Roosevelt, the United Service Organizations (USO) coordinate the action of associations responsible for supporting morale and entertaining the troops.
