Body Armor, Flak, RAF & USAAF, 1943
Rare genuine WWII RAF / USAAF body armor, fitted with manganese steel plates and intended for being worn by bomber crews -- particularly aerial gunners. Developed in 1942-1943 along with British company Wilkinson Sword , this assembly is made up of a Type A vest and a Type D apron. In case of emergency, the wearer could get rid off the whole assembly thanks to the quick-release system featuring Lift-the-Dot fasteners. Early version manufactured in Britain; initial N above the Broad Arrow indicates that the present flak vest was made in 1943.
