First Army arrived in England in 1943 to begin preparation for operation Overlord. General Omar Bradley was in command of First Army and under his command were the 1st, 2nd and 29th Infantry Divisions which landed at Omaha Beach and the 4th, 9th and 90th Infantry Divisions which landed at Utah Beach. Also under this command were the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions.

Rare genuine WWII Heer Georgian volunteer sleeve insignia, printed on cloth. The present shield, which bears the national colors of Georgia, a small State of the Caucasus region, features mention Georgien in capital letters. The creation of a specific unit for Georgian volunteers was allowed by Hitler in December 1941. Soon after, this insignia was produced and issued to the troops, who would wear it on the upper right sleeve of the field uniform. Some of theses Georgian volunteers were part of the various Osttrupen that the 101st Airborne Division met in Normandy. Mint, unissued condition.
