The German military authorities took this as a provocation and confiscated the ID of all those present, leading to an unprecedented wave of arrests; members of the French Resistance were subsequently sent to concentration camps, where some of them died of starvation. This meticulous investigation depicts the life of this Canadian pilot in detail, until his very last sortie over German-occupied France, as well as the tragic consequences of his death for the local population.
