Comic Book - 6th June 1944: Overlord

Comic Book - 6th June 1944: Overlord

"As a good drawing is often better than a thousand explanations, what could be better than a comic strip to tell the tale of Operation Overlord and the Allied Landings in Normandy? Without wishing to give a parody of a famous phrase printed by an equally famous newspaper read by young people aged 7 to 77, it is clear that comic strips are read by a very wide public. Bringing together pictures and texts, they are close to both literature and cinema, but are extremely good at being concise and straight to the point. These are surely the reasons why they are read with great interest by children, teenagers, parents and grandparents alike. I hope that this book will both serve to pass on the message of those who experienced these battle and stimulate the interest of the younger generations as they learn of the high price paid for Freedom. French, English, Dutch, German, Spanish and Italian versions available."

Crash à Bayeux - La dernière mission du Sergeant Ferguson (French Version)

Crash à Bayeux - La dernière mission du Sergeant Ferguson (French Version)

Book,  Crash à Bayeux - La dernière mission du Sergeant Ferguson , François Oxéant, OREP, 2024, 112 pages. French version. This is the true story of Sergeant William Kennedy Ferguson , a young Royal Canadian Air Force pilot whose Spitfire was shot down by Flak on January 15, 1943 near Bayeux, Normandy, France. Ferguson was killed and buried in the cemetery of a nearby village, Saint-Martin-des-Entrées. To show their solidarity with the cause for which he had died, hundreds of French citizens attended the funeral. The German military authorities took this as a provocation and confiscated the ID of all those present, leading to an unprecedented wave of arrests; members of the French Resistance were subsequently sent to concentration camps, where some of them died of starvation. This meticulous investigation depicts the life of this Canadian pilot in detail, until his very last sortie over German-occupied France, as well as the tragic consequences of his death for the local population.  Initially published by Comever-De Rameau in 2014, the present revised edition features some never-before-seen wartime photographs. https://www.facebook.com/crashinbayeux

D-DAY L’essentiel du débarquement et de la Bataille de Normandie

D-DAY L’essentiel du débarquement et de la Bataille de Normandie

June 6, 1944 is remembered as a landmark date, a turning point in the Second World War. Yet the story of the D-Day landings began long before, with the inter-allied diplomatic conferences and the preparations for Operation Overlord. It also goes far beyond that, as June 6 was only the prelude to the long and difficult battle of Normandy. Based on the latest advances in research, L'Essentiel du Débarquement et de la bataille de Normandie invites readers to discover - or rediscover - the history of this military event through an unprecedented approach. Combining a clear, accessible summary with a wealth of computer graphics, this book reveals some 65 maps and plans, as well as numerous diagrams, data and original illustrations.
