Great genuine WWII British rum jar, of the stoneware type without any handle, adorned with initials S.R.D. (Supply Reserve Depot).
Manufactured by Pearson & Co., Ltd. in Chesterfield, Derbyshire and dated 1939. Capactiy: 1 gallon (about 4.5 liters).
Rum rations were to be issued upon order of the commanding officer or on recommendation of a medical doctor.
Perfect condition.
Dimensions: 12.8in x 6.9in.

The present artifact comes from a significant collection built up by a Norman collector in the last thirty years, which includes many relics from the so-called 'Falaise Gap'.

Magnifique jarre à rhum britannique, d'origine Deuxième Guerre, du modèle en grès orné des initiales S.R.D. (Supply Reserve Depot) et dépourvu d'anse.
Fabriquée par Pearson & Co., Ltd. à Chesterfield (Derbyshire) et datée 1939. Contenance : 1 gallon (environ 4,5 l).
La distribution des rations de rhum était laissée à l'appréciation de l'officier commandant l'unité.
Exemplaire en parfait état.
