Genuine WWII British Mk II Anti-Gas Eyeshields, intended for protection from vesicant spray. These disposable goggles were made of a single transparent acetate eyeshield, stapled between a visor of impregnated material and a narrow strip of felt; the whole assembly would be adjusted around the head thanks to an elastic band with hook.
These were often worn as dust protection, particularly in North Africa and Normandy. The present model has become easily recognizable since Erwin Rommel wore such goggles on his visor hat...
The present cardboard box retains its six eyeshields coming in their original kraft envelopes. Nice homogeneous set, dated 1944.
Extremely brittle.
