Grouping, Sgt. Mervin Manuel, Medic, 2nd Infantry Division, ETO
Interesting genuine WWII US Army grouping, which belonged to Sergeant Mervin L. Manuel, who served as a Medic in the 2nd Infantry Division.
The present lot includes some personal belongings, such as a Good Conduct Medal coming in its box, a 2nd Infantry Division shoulder sleeve insignia, a Marksman badge and various souvenirs, along with a rather important body of documents.
The latter is made made of a notebook, a couple of photographs, several administrative letters and forms, official booklets, some maps and plans, as well as a German magazine (Die Wehrmacht, January 14, 1942 issue), a Yank magazine (March 23, 1945 issue), and a copy of Spearhead -- the divisional newspaper (November 23, 1945 issue).
All these elements come in the carton in which they were likely stored for many years.
Mervin Leo Manuel was born on December 27, 1925 in Walla Walla, Washington State and joined the US Army on June 15, 1944. He was discharged on April 26, 1946 as a Sergeant, and passed away on February 28, 2009.
