Genuine WWII US Army M3 gas mask, connected to the M10 canister with a creased hose.
Manufactured by Firestone and dated 1943. Universal size.
This type was issued to glider troops and glider pilots on the occasion of Operation Overlord.
The present gas mask is complete and comes in its original OD 3 M6 carrier (slightly damaged on the top), along with its anti-dim cloth.
Some markings have been stenciled on the back of the musette bag, indicating that it once belonged to some Major W.C. Stinnett, ASN O-384287.
William C. Stinnett deployed to Europe with the 9th Air Force.
