Patch, VII Corps, US Army, Utah Beach (1st Pattern), Green Border, Green Back

Genuine WWII US Seventh Army Corps (VII Corps) shoulder patch. On D-Day, VII Corps was in charge of the operations on Utah Beach, whilst V Corps was in charge of Omaha Beach. On this occasion, the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions were attached to VII Corps.

This is the first version of the green border and green back insignia, replaced after April 28, 1944 by a second version featuring Roman numerals, but still worn in Normandy.
