Genuine WWII US Army M1 helmet, front rim seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord, shell number 777C.
Khaki canvas chinstrap with steel buckle and hook.
Quite good overall condition; found in Normandy.
Some name, hardly legible, has been written on the chinstrap: Pvt. Ramiro J. Orona.
Ramiro Joe Orona was born on March 12, 1925 in Los Angeles, California and joined the US Army on July 12, 1943 (ASN 39704259). He deployed to Europe, went on to serve with Company E, 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division and was wounded in action in Germany in November 1944. He was discharged on December 7, 1945 as a Private First Class, and passed away on October 2, 2006.
