Hedgerow Hell - L'enfer du bocage : Omaha, La Cambe, Isigny, Lison, Airel, Villiers-Fossard, Saint-Lô
Second hand book, Hedgerow Hell - L'enfer du bocage : Omaha, La Cambe, Isigny, Lison, Airel, Villiers-Fossard, Saint-Lô by John S. Allsup.
Forty years later, John Allsup recalls the military operations in which he took part between June 7 and 18, 1944. The day after D-Day, Lieutenant Allsup landed at Vierville-sur-Mer with his platoon from Company A of the 175th Infantry Regiment (29th Division). He describes Omaha Beach littered with bodies and equipment. From there, he and his men were sent to Isigny-sur-Mer, then to Saint-Lô. He goes on to describe the terrible fighting in the bocage, which claimed many victims, including the author himself, who was wounded on June 19, 1944, on Hill 108, near Villiers-Fossard.
