Rare genuine WWII US Army Signal Corps M-209-B converter, manufactured by L.C. Smith & Corona Typewriters, Inc. in Syracuse, New York.
Contract is dated 1942.
This small, portable, hand-operated machine was intended for enciphering and deciphering radio messages at the tactical level; such converters saw service in Normandy with airborne units, amongst others.
Very good overall condition; comes in its original heavy duty canvas bag, impregnated.
