Genuine WWII US Army M1941 short windbreaker-type field jacket, windproof and water-resistant cotton poplin with flannel lining.
Standard issue worn by all services in most theaters of operations.
In good, worn condition, the present jacket retains all original buttons and Conmar zipper in working order. Label is missing; seems to correspond to size 36R.
This field jacket comes from the family of Private First Class Nile R. Blood, a veteran of Company A, 413th Infantry Regiment, 104th Infantry Division.
Nile Robert Blood was born on November 24, 1923 in West Salem, Illinois and joined the US Army on April 28, 1943 (ASN 36746106). He went on to serve with the 104th Infantry Division and deployed to Europe, where he was wounded in action. He was discharged on January 31, 1946 as a Private First Class and passed away on July 7, 2002.
