Great genuine WWII USAAF A-2 leather flight jacket, featuring the Air Corps sleeve insignia (felt) on the left shoulder.
Quite good, worn condition; shows a nice patina and various signs of wear, including a few tiny tears on the cuffs and waistband; the stitching marks still visible on the left side indicate that one large breast insignia and two name tags, now gone, once adorned this part of the present jacket.
The original collar hook, Crown zipper (damaged yet still in working order), and snap fasteners are still present. Contractor label is missing.
Name Palmer C.H. and ASN 19175622 have been written inside.
Charles Henry Palmer was born on June 16, 1916 in Kansas City, Kansas and joined the US Army on November 2, 1942. He went on to serve with the Air Corps, was awarded his aerial gunner's badge in August 1943, and deployed to the Pacific with 403rd Bomb. Squadron, 43rd Bomb. Group, 5th Air Force. A recipient of the Air Medal, he was discharged as a Technical Sergeant, and passed away in 2011.
