Genuine WWII US M4 bayonet, intended for the M1 carbine.
Manufactured by Kinfolks, Inc. and hallmarked on crossguard.
Based on the M3 trench knife, this bayonet was introduced in the summer of 1944 for personnels armed with the M1 carbine; a specific assembly was attached to the barrel to fit the new device.
Through 1945, about three million M4 bayonets were produced by seven manufacturers: Aerial Cutlery Manufacturing Co., Camillus Cutlery Co., W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co., Imperial Knife Co., Kinfolks Inc., Pal Blade and Tool Co. and Utica Cutlery Co.
Comes in its original USM8A1 bakelite scabbard.
Homogeneous set in quite good, used condition.
