Genuine WW1 Belgian médaille de l'Yser.
Created in October 1918, its purpose was to reward veterans of the Battle of the Yser, which took place between 17 and 31 October 1914.
It was also awarded to the French members of the Brigade de fusiliers marins (Sailor Riflemen Brigade), who particularly distinguished themselves during the fighting at Dixmude, where 6,000 Frenchmen stood up to 50,000 Germans.
