Amazing genuine WWI German M1916 helmet, of the type introduced in the Imperial Army in 1916.
All original rivets are still present, along with the leather liner, complete with pads and drawstring -- chinstrap is missing.
Despite some light surface oxidation, the present Stahlhelm retains most of its original Feldgrau paint; the rear of the shell has been adorned with a hand-painted iron cross.
Inscriptions visible inside tend to indicate that the owner of this helmet successively served in two different infantry regiments, including the Hessian Infanterie-Regiment 115.
Good overall condition, in spite of four small cracks on top of the shell.
A page from French newspaper Le Matin, March 28, 1915 issue, showing a global map of the Western Front as per March 25, 1915, comes along with this very nice relic.
