Recruté dans le New Brunswick, ce jeune régiment s’était déjà illustré pendant la Première Guerre mondiale.

Le 6 juin 1944, les "North Shore" débarquent en première vague sur Juno Beach (Nan Red) avec la 8th Canadian Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. Ils participent à toute la bataille de Normandie, se distinguant notamment le Jour-J à Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer.
