Truly stunning lot of two authentic messages sent by Major General  Matthew B. Ridgway , commanding officer of XVIII Airborne Corps, to the officers in charge of various units -- including the 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division -- during the fighting in Holland in September 1944 (Operation Market Garden). These extremely rare documents, which have some great historical significance, are protected by a frame. Frame dimensions: 9.8in x 14.5in.

Found many years ago in a depot at St. Lo, Normandy. Made by Joseph Gundry Ltd. , net and rope makers based in Bridport, Dorset, UK. Excellent overall condition, complete with drawstring. Label is not included.

Rare genuine WWII US Army jump wings assembly, made up of an embroidered oval patch of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, and a metal parachutist's badge hallmarked Sterling -- pin is in working order. Intended for being worn above the left breast pocket of the dress uniform, the 'jump wings' were designed  by Captain Yarborough and 2nd Lieutenant Minter and were introduced in March 1941. Qualification was six jumps, but later reduced to five. Great homogeneous set, in excellent overall condition.

Genuine WWII USAAF Type G-1 parachute pack, intended for aerial delivery containers. Part No. 42G4815. Standardized in December 1942, this type would be used with most containers -- particularly A-4 and A-5 types -- for loads up to 300 pounds. This is the  bottom part   of the pack. Quite good, used condition. Empty.

Parka, Ski, Reversible, FSSF

Genuine WWII US Army, reversible ski parka (khaki and white), made up of a double layer of water-repellent poplin, of the type introduced in 1942. This model features wolf fur around the hood edge, three buttons and a drawstring at the collar, and two large side pockets with buttoned flaps.  Such parkas were issued to the First Special Service Force (FSSF) in 1943-1944, then to the First Airborne Task Force, and later to various Army units during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944-1945. Label is illegible. Good, worn condition; the fur has been removed.
