


















































Grouping, Cpt. Arthur Northwood, Jr., 501st PIR, 101st Airborne Division, ETO
Amazing genuine WWII US Army grouping, which belonged to Captain Arthur Northwood, Jr., 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, and includes the following items:
- offficer's shirt, chocolate wool (Dark OD 51), adorned with a Captain rank insignia and the crossed rifles of the Infantry -- size 15 x 34;
- OD wool serge trousers of the 'Special' type with anti-vesicant special feature in the shape of a triangular flap behind the fly, in which name Northwood has been inked -- size 34 x 35;
- M1942 parachute jumper trousers retaining their OD 7 cloth suspenders;
- three 1st Lieutenant rank insignias (pin type) and three Captain rank insignias (two of the latter being hallmarked Amico);
- parachutist's badge ('jump wings') hallmarked Sterling -- pin type.
Great homogeneous set, in very good overall condition; the shirt and trousers both retain all original buttons.
Arthur Northwood, Jr. was born on January 9, 1914 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and volunteered in the New York National Guard in 1942 prior to being inducted into Federal Service in 1943. He earned his 'jump wings' and was promoted to Lieutenant prior to deploying to Europe as a Platoon Leader in 501st PIR, 101st Airborne Division. Discharged on October 1st, 1946 as a Captain, he was the co-author of the famous book Rendezvous with Destiny. He passed away on October 26, 1997.
