Tent, Half, Shelter, 1st Type, US Army, 1942
Genuine WWII US Army shelter-half tent, dated 1942, of the early type -- manufacturer's name is hardly legible. As part of his issue, every GI had a shelter-half, usually rolled into the M1928 haversack's pack carrier. A two-man tent could be pitched by buttoning together two similar pieces. Good overall condition; comes along with its three-part mast and five wooden pegs.

Armband, Observer, AWS, USAAF
Genuine WWII US Aircraft Warning Service armand, made in royal blue wool felt material, with machine-embroidered insignia. Created in May 1941, the AWS was a civilian branch of the US military whose mission consisted in watching for enemy aircraft entering the American airspace, both on the West Coast and the East Coast. At the peak of its activity, on the East Coast, the AWS numbered 750,000 volunteers -- mostly women -- who had received extensive training in aircraft recognition and were posted to various observation centers. The AWS was disbanded in May 1944. Dimensions: 18 x 4 inches, like most regulation brassards. Due to the lack of fastening device, the armband was usually fixed on the left sleeve by a safety pin. Mint condition.

Nice genuine WWII US Western Shark fighting knife, hallmarked Western, Boulder, Colo., Pat. No. 1,967,479 on the ricasso. Bowie type blade (5.7in), grip made of stacked leather washers, bakelite pommel. This type was particularly popular with USMC and USN aicrews in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Good overall condition; comes in its original russet leather scabbard, at the back of which the following inscription has been engraved: 10th C.B. Frank B. Gebhardt . Frank Benjamin Gebhardt was born on February 19, 1905 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and joined the US Navy on April 21, 1942 (service number 622-75-87). He went on to serve with the 10th Naval Construction Battalion from July 3, 1942 onwards -- his name still appears on the Muster Roll in September 1944. The various elements of the unit deployed to the Pacific, particularly in Midway.
