The regiment is part of the 6th Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division and was involved in the take over of Vichy French possessions in Syria and the Lebanon.
Until 1942, it was the last unit of the British to fight on horseback. After losing their horses in 1942 they became a Signals Regiment serving in the Middle East, England and North West Europe.
