Great genuine WWII British Type C flying helmet, of the second pattern introduced in March 1944, made in brown leather with chamois lining and fitted with elastic web chinstrap.
This type, which remained the standard flying helmet in the Royal Air Force through the end of the war, was also issued to some 8th Air Force aircrews. This is the last version, featuring five small straps at the rear.
Very good overall condition; retains its side hook intended for oxygen mask, 10A/3466 receivers, wire and 10HA/13036 plug.
Inscriptions visible inside indicate that the present helmet once belonged to some Flying Officer Cairns of No. 15 Squadron.
