Grenade, British, No. 69, Mk I, 1940-1943
Rare genuine WWII British grenade, No. 69 Mk I, bakelite.
This percusssion-type hand grenade was filled with a 92g explosive charge. Seeing service with British and Commonwealth forces, it proved to be less effective than other offensive grenades and was soon adopted as an 'artillery simulator' for training purposes. The No. 69 was withdrawn from service following the end of the war.
Dated 1940, this grenade retains its safety cap (dated 1943) and cloth tape.
Deactivated (empty and totally inert).
