Genuine WWII British cap badge, The Royal Ulster Rifles.
The 1st Battalion was transferred to the 12th Devonshire Regiment, 6th Airborne Landing Brigade, 6th Airborne Division, which landed on Merville with Horsa gliders.
The 2nd Battalion was part of the 9th Infantry Brigade, 3rd (Old Ironsides) Infantry Division, which landed on Sword Beach on D-Day.
Those two battalions subsequently fought throughout the whole Battle of Normandy.
