Smock, Denison, 1st Pattern, DEPHYRANE GARMENTS LTD. 1942, Size 5
Rare genuine WWII British Airborne camouflage Denison Smock, of the first pattern featuring knit cuffs.
Manufactured by Dephyrane Garments Ltd. in 1942; size 5.
Though first intended for airborne troops only — both paratroopers and glidermen —, this type was also issued to various commando units and other army personnel depolyed in the ETO during the winter 1944-1945.
Good, worn condition despite a few small tears; retains all original snap fasteners; the 'beaver tail' has been removed while a large patch of cloth, cut out in another smock, has been sewn on the back to fill some gap.
The DOT full-length zipper (in working order) appears to be a modification intended for officers only, since the standard zipper normally stops in the middle of the chest.
A cloth trade badge identifying mechanics, fitters and gunners has been sewn on the lower right sleeve.
