Field Service Cap, Canadian, Princess of Wales' Own Regiment

€125.00

Great genuine WWII Canadian Field Service Cap, without any production markings visible. Corresponds to 6 3/4 (British size).

Introduced in 1937 for most branches of service of the Army, this side hat was to be worn with the Battledress. Although progressively superseded by the beret from 1943 onwards, this type remained in use until the end of the war.

The present cap is in very good overall condition, complete with brass buttons bearing mention Canada and retaining its Princess of Wales' Own Regiment.

Although the regiment did not deploy overseas as a whole, it did provide a full company to the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, who participated in the Liberation of Europe in 1944-1945.
